Research Associate: Next-gen Genomics

Job Summary: Provides laboratory assistance to project managers in charge of Next Generation Sequencing platforms. Job duties include (but are not limited to): Preparing experimental material using laboratory protocols (SeqWright Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)), GLP, and safety guidelines. Maintain accurate and complete sample tracking and reagent records. Performing routine maintenance on machines used in sequencing study protocols. Transferring data to the archive. Handling and disposing of hazardous and non-hazardous materials in accordance with safety protocols. Setting up and operating standard laboratory equipment. Following detailed instructions, written and oral. Previous molecular biology laboratory experience is required.

Education/Experience:

  • B.S. or B.A. in the Biological Sciences (molecular biology / genetics focus is preferred, but not required)
  • At least 3 months laboratory experience in molecular biology / genetics

Required qualifications:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are required
  • Must be able to follow detailed oral and written instructions

Bioinformatics Team Leader

Job Summary: A motivated and self-directed bioinformatics team leader is needed in a fast-paced small biotech environment to work as a hands-on leader to direct and grow a lean bioinformatics/IT team.

Roles and Responsibilities: Rapid changes in next-generation sequencing technology have made for rapid changes in the demands of computational genomics. Our bioinformatics team is looking for an analysis team leader with interest and experience in both sequence analysis and system administration. Duties will primarily involve developing and refining all aspects of collection, management, and analysis of data from high-throughput genomic sequencing instruments. The successful applicant will be a nimble UNIX user proficient in maintaining and operating a UNIX cluster environment, and have programming experience in Perl, Java, C++, Ruby, and/or UNIX shell script. Prior systems administration, cluster computing, and networking experience is a plus. Management and team-building experience is a must. This is a unique opportunity for a candidate with the drive to take responsibility for all aspects of delivering quality genomic analysis results using bleeding-edge sequencing technology.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative science or computer science
  • Management and team building experience

SeqWright, Inc. is looking for a talented, highly-motivated, team-orientated individual, who is interested in a long-term career in the biotechnology industry. The ideal candidate will provide laboratory assistance to support research and sequencing; prepare experimental materials using laboratory protocols, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), GLP and safety guidelines. The qualified individual must be able to maintain accurate records of procedures used to conduct basic experiments, perform limited routine analysis, and provide basic interpretations in addition to handling and disposing of hazardous and non-hazardous materials in accordance with safety protocols. The candidate should be able to set up and operate standard laboratory equipment

Desired qualifications:

  • Minimum BS/BA in Microbiology, Biochemistry, or related field
  • 0-3 years experience in the academic, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology laboratory sector preferred

Territory Manager (Mid-Atlantic)

This position serves as the primary field sales representative in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern US focusing primarily on the academic, biotech and pharmaceutical accounts in the MD/VA/DC area and the RTP area of NC. The primary responsibilities of the position are listed below:

  • Serve in the field as the primary representative of SeqWright’s sales organization in the region.
  • Proactively find and develop new business opportunities and accounts for the Company’s portfolio for genomic services.
  • Maintain and foster business relationships within existing customer base specifically with designated key accounts in the region.
  • Prepare quotes, negotiate project deals and close business opportunities.
  • Travel up to 50% within the assigned territory as required accomplishing the assigned goals.

The primary qualifications are as follows:

  • BS or higher degree in Life Science preferably Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or Genetics.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in sales within the Life Science market.
  • Must be located within the territory, preferably in the greater Washington DC area.
  • Lab experience in molecular biology (DNA sequencing, QPCR, microarrays) is a strong plus.
Position reports to the Director of Sales & Marketing and is supported by inside sales.

Inside Sales Representative (Houston)

SeqWright, Inc. is looking for qualified candidates for the position of Inside Sales Representative. The Inside Sales Representative is responsible for responding to customer inquiries, preparing and sending quotations, and following up with prospective and current customers. Other duties include coordinating internal resources for the outside sales team, compiling lists of prospective customers, visiting Houston-based customers, and occasionally attending trade shows/conferences. Individuals must have a BS with 2 years of molecular biology laboratory experience or MS in a biological science or chemistry. Real-time PCR Laboratory Technician

SeqWright is looking for a dedicated, organized and detail-oriented technician to join our growing qPCR group.

Qualifications (Required):

  • B.S. in Biology, Biochemistry, or related area with a minimum of 2 years relevant laboratory experience
  • Prior experience in real-time PCR, microarray, or DNA sequencing preferred
  • Experience with basic microbiology and molecular biology techniques.
  • Experience using laboratory equipment

Must be a strong team-player, with ability to cooperate effectively with all team members.

After on-the-job training, the successful applicant will be expected to:

  • Perform multiple molecular biology activities, including DNA/RNA isolation from a wide range of starting materials, PCR, real-time quantitative PCR, DNA sequencing, and other experiments as needed
  • Keep accurate and detailed experimental records and provide verbal and written reports to supervisor
  • Work independently and effectively in support of multiple project managers to complete different projects ontime
