Introduction

Personal Genomics is an exciting new field, providing individuals with powerful insights into their genetic makeup and history; a prospect which was little more than science-fiction a few years ago. The information derived from this service promises to offer you a glimpse into your genome by potentially identfying over one million minute genetic variations, an increasing number of which are known to be associated with disease, ancestry, and genealogy.

Genomic Profiling Service (GPS) Overview
SeqWright's GPS offers a better, more comprehensive view of your genetic makeup. Our service can detect nearly one million common genetic variations, known as SNP's, in order to provide you with useful information regarding your genetic history and predisposition to disease. All GPS services are performed in SeqWright's state of the art, GLP compliant facility, using the latest Affymetrix Human Genome-Wide SNP array 6.0 microarray by SeqWright's Ph.D. Scientists. The cost of the service is $998.

With the ability to detect nearly one million SNP's, SeqWright GPS can provide you with the genotypes needed to compare yourself to myriad genetic association studies. Plus, SeqWright GPS will provide you with our comparisons of your genotypes to selected diseases. Furthermore, with the number of SNP's that SeqWright GPS offers, you'll have the ability to see how more future breakthroughs apply to you.

Ever wonder where your ancestors really come from or how you relate to other people around the world? The results from your SeqWright GPS personal profile will give you a more in depth picture than ever-before possible. Based on common DNA variations among historical populations from around the world, we can tell you how much your DNA resembles that of a given geographical population.

Do you have a favorite relative with whom you just feel like you have more in common? Well, maybe you really do. When your consenting family members also chose SeqWright GPS, you can learn about how many interesting traits are inherited within your family.

Developments Regarding Genetic Testing and Discrimination

On May 1st, 2008 the United States Congress passed the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA). The law basically states that employers and health insurance issuers may not discriminate against individuals on the basis of their genetic information. The law is expected be signed into law by president Bush in the near future. To learn more about the bill, please visit this link.
